The Midwest Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (MWCAAOP) announced that Natascha R. Mangan, MPO, is the winner of the 2015 Gunther Gehl Scholarship.
“The next wave of orthotists and prosthetists will enter a complex, dynamic, and increasingly complex healthcare arena that demands more sophistication than ever,” said Walter Afable, CP, MWCAAOP president. “The Gunther Gehl Scholarship allows the MWCAAOP to identify and encourage the very best emerging talent and help them meet the challenges of tomorrow. We were impressed by Natascha’s presentation, ‘The Effect of An AFO on Mechanical Loading of the Sound Hip in Children with Spastic Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy: Pilot Study,’ and look forward to seeing her excel professionally.”
The Midwest Chapter Scholarship Award was renamed in 1992 as the Gunther Gehl Scholarship Fund in honor of Gunter Gehl, (CP(E), director of prosthetics education at the Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center in recognition of his distinguished career in prosthetic education and his influence upon those who sought his instruction and guidance.
