Charles Michael “Mike” Schuch, CPO, FAAOP, FISPO, passed away suddenly on June 9. He was 60 years old.
Schuch served in numerous educational and professional positions within the O&P profession during a career that spanned more than 40 years, including as director of clinical and technical services at SPS, Alpharetta, Georgia, and as vice president and director of clinical services and assistant clinical professor at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. He served as president, past-president, and as a board member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (the Academy), as president of the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA), on the board of directors of the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE), and was editor in chief and chairman of the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics (JPO).
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wall Schuch, two sons, two grandsons, and two brothers.
