Canada’s Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program turns 40 this year. The program was founded in 1975 by The War Amputations of Canada, a charitable organization commonly known as The War Amps.
The CHAMP Program offers services to children with amputations and their families, such as providing financial assistance for prosthetic limbs and various recreational devices as well as emotional support. To be enrolled in the CHAMP Program, children must be under the age of 18, born missing a limb or limbs, or have lost a limb due to an accident or medical causes. Enrollment is restricted to children in Canada.
