The National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP) released a webcast encouraging all practitioners and interested parties to submit formal written comments about the potential effects of the draft Local Coverage Determination (LCD) for Lower Limb Prostheses policy by the Monday, August 31, deadline.
In the webcast, NAAOP General Counsel Peter Thomas, JD, described the events of the Wednesday, August 26, meetings and demonstration in Baltimore and Washington DC in response to the draft LCD, including NAAOP’s meeting with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Acting Director Andrew Slavitt and Acting Principal Deputy Administrator Patrick Conway, MD, MSc. Thomas noted that the CMS officials were responsive to NAAOP’s points, acknowledged their serious concern with the policy as written, and promised future dialogue and action.
Resources to submit statements about the policy can be found on the NAAOP website or at www.saveprosthetics.org.
The webcast is posted on the NAAOP website and on oandp.com, shared with members via e-mail, and made available through the NAAOP page on Facebook.
