The International Paralympic Committee has named the 2014 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team the winner of the Best Team Award at the 2015 Paralympic Sport Awards, held November 14 in Mexico City. The awards recognized achievements from the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
The United States became the first nation to win back-to-back Paralympic gold medals in sled hockey by defeating Russia (1-0) in the gold-medal game on March 15, 2014. Overall, the team posted preliminary round wins over Italy (5-1), South Korea (3-0), and a semifinal win against Canada (3-0). The team’s only loss was to Russia (2-1) in the preliminary round.
