On November 23, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the 2016 Medicare durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) fee schedule. According to the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA), Medicare fees for O&P devices will be 0.4 percent lower in 2016 than they were in 2015. The reduction is a result of a combination of the 0.1 percent increase in the Consumer Pricing Index for urban areas (CPI-U) from June 2014 to June 2015, and the annual Multifactor Productivity (MFP) Adjustment , which was calculated as -0.5 percent.
