HealthSouth Valley of the Sun Rehabilitation Hospital is expanding the work it does for amputee patients into the community. The inaugural HealthSouth Amputee Running Clinic for amputee runners age 10 and older will be held at Prescott Intramural Field at Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Saturday, March 19, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. Special guests will include elite amputee runners Steve Martin and Allysa Seely as well as former Paralympic track coach Bryan Hoddle.
For use and training purposes, access to state-of-the-art components will be available to participants.
“Physical activity is an important part of an amputee patient’s recovery. I’m inspired every day by the amputee patients we serve that continue to defy the odds by becoming even more active than they were prior to limb loss,” said Lonnie Coughran, physical therapist assistant at HealthSouth Valley of the Sun and amputee running clinic organizer.
This event is provided at no cost to participants and guests. A required RSVP for participants and guests may be sent to Lori Ferguson at 623.334.5423 or [email protected] by March 1.
