The Amputee Coalition is accepting applications for its Leadership Camp, a six-day program for those who are 18 or 19 years old and have limb loss or limb difference. The camp will take place July 8-13 at Camp Joy, Clarksville, Ohio. The Amputee Coalition will cover all costs, including travel, and successful graduates will have the opportunity to be future counselors and junior counselors at the Paddy Rossbach Youth Camp. The deadline to apply for one of the 20 spaces is March 18.
Participants will develop self-advocacy skills and learn how to build strong communities through curriculum and mentoring. Aside from an application, available at the web address below, the submission also includes an essay describing the importance of leadership and examples of the applicant’s leadership in his or her community, two letters of recommendation, and a photograph. All items should be e-mailed to [email protected].
Questions should be directed to Tonya Osborne-Simpson, the peer support programs manager, at [email protected] or 888.267.5669 x8103, or on the Amputee Coalition website.
