The Amputee Coalition’s board of directors has elected three new members to the board.

Cain

Jeffrey J. Cain, MD, a resident of Denver, is a family physician who teaches and practices at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. As a past board member of the Amputee Coalition, Cain also served as the founding chair of the Amputee Coalition Advocacy Committee and the Medical Advisory Board. He is past president of the American Academy of Family Physicians and cofounder of Tar Wars, a national youth tobacco-free education program. He also has bilateral transtibial amputations and won the gold medal in slalom in the first U.S. national adaptive snowboarding championships.

Coakley

Thomas Coakley, a resident of Canton, New York, is retired from St. Lawrence University, where he had a 28-year-long career holding several positions, including vice president for administrative operations for the last 15 years of his career. Coakley has nonprofit leadership experience, including having served on his local community hospital board for 25 years, his local junior college foundation for 35 years, and 12 years with the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics. He has a transtibial amputation resulting from combat during the Vietnam War.

Riche

Lorraine Riche, MPA, a resident of Gainesville, Virginia, is chief operating officer of PT Solutions, Kennesaw, Georgia. She began her career in healthcare more than 20 years ago as a staff physiotherapist. Prior to joining PT Solutions, Riche has had a number of leadership roles, including having served as vice president at a healthcare and management consulting company, vice president of operations and later senior vice president of operations for a pain management company, and assistant vice president of ambulatory services at a nonprofit health organization. Riche is an entrepreneur and previously founded Physiotherapy Associates, an independent practice that served as one of the largest private practices in the community.
