Össur, Reykjavik, Iceland, announced that the winner of its #MyWinningMoment online photo and video contest celebrating the mobility of people with lower-limb amputations is Federica Maspero. Maspero, from Como, Italy, is an oncologist and runner. She has bilateral transfemoral amputations and finger amputations due to meningitis.
Maspero’s photo was chosen by an external jury of prosthetics community leaders from ten finalists who had been featured on Össur’s Facebook page. Her submission depicts her and her husband in full wedding regalia on a running track. She has won a trip for two to the company’s headquarters.
“We enjoyed all of the submissions and were especially inspired by Federica’s photo, which exuded happiness and success on many levels,” said Jon Sigurdsson, Össur’s president and CEO. “While one’s wedding day is certainly one of the best moments in anyone’s life, Federica made hers all the more memorable by combining it with her love of sports. The resulting image is a joyous illustration of enjoying life without limitations.”
