Students in the Master of Prosthetics-Orthotics Program at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center, Dallas, in partnership with OPAF and the First Clinics, hosted First Dance and First Swim events on September 17 at the Bachman Recreation Center, Dallas.
First Dance was led by Curtis Haremza, who founded the program with his wife and OPAF in 2011. First Swim was supervised by Jason Wening, CPO/L, FAAOP, a Paralympic athlete and the First Swim director; instruction was provided by local swimming coaches.
The events were coordinated by UTSW student Emily Littrell, and sponsored by College Park Industries, Warren, Michigan; Fillauer Companies, Chattanooga, Tennessee; ALPS, St. Petersburg, Florida; and Curbell Plastics, Orchard Park, New York.
