Green Sun Medical, Fort Collins, Colorado, was named the winner of the MedTech Innovator global competition for its tech‐enabled spinal brace used to treat patients who have adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). The device applies reduction forces dynamically, allowing the patient to move and to generate the constant corrective forces necessary to reverse the spinal curve. It uses a series of pressure sensors to maintain proper alignment and provides digital monitoring capabilities. The startup company, founded in 2015 by CEO Jamie Haggard, received the $200,000 cash prize on October 19 at the Advanced Medical Technology (AdvaMed) Conference in Minneapolis after being chosen from more than 500 applicants.
Held in partnership with AdvaMed Accel, Washington DC, the MedTech Innovator is the medical technology industry’s global competition and virtual accelerator that identifies and accelerates the development of transformative innovations.
“Green Sun Medical’s [AIS] brace is an amazing innovation that addresses an unmet need in today’s healthcare space,” said Paul Grand, CEO, MedTech Innovator.
