On March 13, the National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP) submitted comments on a proposed rule that will implement Section 427 of the Benefits Improvement and Protection Act of 2000 (BIPA 2000). NAAOP worked in concert with members of the Orthotic and Prosthetic Alliance-a coalition that includes NAAOP, the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists; the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics; the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association; and the Board for Certification/Accreditation (BOC)-to develop a comprehensive statement on the proposed rule, along with specific recommendations for consideration by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
