The Orthotic and Prosthetic Activities Foundation (OPAF) First Swim Clinic returned to Queens University, Charlotte, North Carolina, for the third consecutive year. Instruction was given by Mabio Costa, a two-time world champion triathlete who has a left transtibial amputation. He was assisted by the Queens University Royals Swim Team. More than 20 partipants attended the three-hour clinic at the university’s Levine Center for Wellness and Recreation. Each participant was matched with a personal swim coach and also received one-on-one coaching from Costa.
First Swim was sponsored locally by the Charlotte Hanger Clinic; Paceline Advanced Medical Solutions, Matthews, North Carolina; and Accessible Mobility Center, Concord, North Carolina.
