The New York Workers’ Compensation Board adopted the state’s Medicaid Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Services Fee Schedule, effective April 4. According to the New York state chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (NYAAOP), under this change O&P providers would no longer be allowed to request prior authorization for their patients to workers’ compensation; instead, the prior authorization paperwork must be completed by the patient’s prescribing doctor.
