Skin Fit with Distal Cup

Duane Nelson

Hello Colleagues,

I work with a highly active transfemoral patient with a medium-to-long
tapered limb that prefers a skin suction ischial containment design with a
thermolyn suprasoft with silicone inner socket. Generally speaking, this is
a successful interface for the patient but despite all efforts he
eventually has skin shearing and pain at the distal lateral femur. This is
due in large part to scar tissue. Socket frame fenestrations, less
relief/more relief, femur control with revofit, and other efforts have all
been tried with certain levels of success but ultimately still fall short
of achieving perfect comfort at the distal lateral femur.
Have any of you successfully provided a transfemoral skin fit over an
iceross distal cup? Should I expect complications with a pull-in donning
sock if trying to pull over an iceross distal cup? Feel free to offer other
solutions if you have ideas.

thanks again for your valuable opinions,

Duane Nelson CP(c)
