I asked a question “If insurance companies can ask us the invoice, and if we have to provide them†couple weeks ago, many of you asked me to share the responses.
Here are what I got back from practitioners, billers, owners, …:
1- Some say that we should not share our invoices (our cost) with them since we negotiate hard with manufacturer to get lower price.
2- Some say that they may ask for the invoice, and if they do so, we have to share. otherwise we won’t get paid.
3- Some suggested to create my invoice and send it for them.
As I found, insurance companies may ask for our cost, and they are allowed to do so. In such a case, we have to provide them. Looks like this request would be for the item(s) that does not have fee schedule.
