Midlayer materials for foot orthoses – ALF?

Daniel Blocka

Dear colleagues,

One student group of mine associated with the George Brown College Prosthetic and Orthotic programs is doing a project around the topic of foot orthoses applied to more sport related activities and sent out a survey asking for materials used to construct such orthoses.

One questions that was posed is as follows, “What midlayer material is used most often when fabricating Athletic Foot Orthotics?”

One answer that came back at a higher frequency was the acronym “ALF”. We are not aware of what “ALF” represents or means? Can someone shed some light on what that acronym stands for?

Thank you for any assistance the group can offer.

Regards, Dan
