Using Volume and/or Surface Area in Modification?

Jeffrey

Hi all,

I know most of the typical modification methods are by circumferences and
ply fit reductions.

However, I’m wondering whether anyone has had experience with heuristics
for modifying via:

– Overall Volume (mm^3) – for example, the displacement of the plaster
mold in a bucket of water
– Surface area (mm^2) – for example how much of a cloth it would take to
wrap around the plaster mold.

I feel intuitively that these measurements could be very helpful, but
haven’t seen them talked about before.

Thanks!
