Here are the responses I received regarding my search for a commercially available PH neutral/ gentle soap for washing prosthetic interface liners. Thank you to those who replied.

1. Have you tried Neutrogena or CeraVe liquid FACIAL CLEANSERS? Both these products have been used by my skin-sensitive patients with multiple allergies to products successfully.
1. Rubbing alcohol cleans much better, is gone off the liner surface completely in 4-5 seconds, and does not leave residue. I am yet to see a patient who will completely rinse soap off.
1. I use Dr. Bronner soaps – they have liquid and bar. I have not tried it on a liner, but it is extremely gentle and are PH neutral. They have many different formulas. I use the “gentle”, unscented. The soaps are multi-purpose.
They list ALL of their ingredients on their website.
It is easy to obtain – grocery stores, health food stores, internet.
1. Try the Liberty Max instead of soap. It is an approved sanitizer by pretty much all governing bodies like Health Canada, EPA, FDA, USDA, CFIA etc…
2. I have my pt’s use baby shampoo. I believe it is neutral
1. First of all, a liner is not going to be neutral, so test some water, then test the liner with the water. Dr. Bronner’s Mild liquid soap is made from coconuts and is going to be the best and softest wash available. He was an Essene monk as was Einstein.
What you really need to do is remove the toxins from liners before they ever get worn. Activated carbon water soaks or French Green Clay works well.
1. Here in the UK we always recommend Simple soap, the liquid soap which comes in a pump.

I’m not sure about the Ph but it’s all natural.
