With the recent limitation of 10 documentation requests per 45 days for orthotic and prosthetic suppliers it is important to keep track of the number of Additional Documentation Requests you receive. We monitor ours closely and found the auditors sent us 19 requests when they were only supposed to send 10.
After further investigation it turned out that CGI was “unaware” of the new limit and has been working with me to rescind those audits in violation of this limit.
Please track the number of audits you receive and contact Medicare and the auditor if you have received more than 10 requests since 4/3/13. Go by the date of the Medicare letter.
