Be Careful Wording Your Emails re State Licensing

Anne Anderson

Let me send this again with some different wording…

As a manufacturer, Florida Brace has always been careful to insure that
our Jewett(r) braces are fitted by only qualified, certified
practitioners. We adhere to our very strict policies which can be found
on our website, www.flabrace.com .
Frequently we have to defend ourselves from people who want us to “make
an exception” or tell us that we are not being fair. My question to
ListServe was trying to educate myself as to some of the arguments I
have heard. So when I asked “Can anyone tell me if there is a list of
states, if any, that license non ABC / BOC certified Orthotists? And is
there a list anywhere of other countries certification or licensing
requirements? “, I was trying to gather facts. And when I said
“Obviously I am looking for some shortcuts here.” I should have said,
“Instead of wading through the internet and trying to find this the hard
way, I will go straight to the experts and post my question to the
ListServe”.

Boy, did I blow my wording the first time!!! I couldn’t understand some
of the responses I received after my first post. But after re-reading
it several times I understood why. For those who knew Ben, you see that
I have inherited his tendency to abbreviate my thoughts and conserve my
words. Obviously not always a good idea.

You know that excellent email advice you have heard before – “don’t hit
send”? I should have edited myself more carefully before I hit send!

Thank you for the responses that I have received.
