engineering student looking into O&P

To List

I have a niece who is finishing up her engineering degree at Rutgers University. She wants to go into O&P, but is unsure what avenue she wants to approach it from. She is not sure if she wants to go into the clinical aspect or the research and design side. She is also debating whether to pursue her Masters in engineering and then go into O&P or just pursue a Masters in O&P.

I am wondering if there is a venue available where she could see the multiple aspects of O&P in a real life scenario where she can actually experience the research/design side as well as the clinical practice side. More than just shadowing a practitioner; is there an environment that would give her access to a broader scope of what O&P has to offer to a bright young engineering mind. She is a very bright, energetic, articulate young lady and would be a fantastic addition to the O&P Profession.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
