Dear List,
Earlier this year there were postings, one by ABC, the other quoting AOPA,
that the deadline for PECOS implementation was moved from January of 2011 to
July 6, 2010. The authors referred to an individual from Medicare. Having
failed to find any confirmation of the above on Medicare website, we called
Medicare (Region A) and learned that the deadline remains January 2011. Does
anyone have any evidence to the contrary? It seems confusing. My colleague
just faxed an article from O&P Almanac (Aug 2010) that was written by AOPA,
again confirming the July 6 date. Does anyone have a reference to a
government source, where this date is printed? We kept submitting claims
after July 6, some signed by non-PECOS M.D.-s and so far, we have been
getting paid. Of course, knowing Medicare, they can easily request the funds
back!
