Workers’ Comp Claims

Warren Mays

Hello All,

Today, we received a letter from a workers’ comp company denying payment
until we provide them with a copy of the invoice for the item we provided.
In this case, it is a custom fabricated solid ankle thermoplastic AFO, so we
are going to give them OUR invoice for: a custom fabricated solid ankle
thermoplastic AFO.

Idiots.

This makes me wonder, though, what would we do if, for example, we had
provided a custom Townsend knee orthosis. Would YOU provide a copy of the
invoice? Do we have any legal standing or argument as to why that “invoice”
has no bearing on what we are charging them and why they should or should
not pay us?

I can’t wait until the day that we are no longer associated with “DME” in
the minds of insurance companies.
