Different AFO design/video

Kevin Matthews

Hello All.  I have been experimenting with a new AFO design and have been having remarkable results.  I would like to share, as is my nature, and would appreciate any input.  I call this my “Turbo AFO” for lack of a better term.  I demonstrate the AFO on a patient with a tri-planar foot ankle instability and drop foot.  I have attached links to the video below.  I know it’s a bit long but I cover a few things to explain my rationale..

I borrowed the premise for this approach from my friend Marmaduke Loke, owner and originator of the DBS AFO from Dynamic Bracing Solutions.

I appreciate those of you that take time to view, and please comment after viewing.  I appreciate any and all comments and will post comments returned in e-mails replying to this post.  Please also post comments for the world to see at the you tube site.

I am an innovator and educator.  I have taught at the past three Texas Assn of O&P meeting and taught five hours at a recent Oklahoma O&P annual meeting.  I like sharing thoughts, designs and fabrication techniques.

Following are the links.  There are two due to length, about 20 mins. total.  Watch them in order when you have time.  Thanks, Kevin.
