Dear List,
I’m an intertested in finding any research articles relating to the incidence of spinal issues (pain, early onset arthritic changes, surgical repair, etc) and overuse syndromes in the “sound side” of individuals requiring the use of prosthetic devices.
Case: 54 y/o M , avg wt, traumatic transtibial amputation 10yrs ago, no Hx of back issues prior to amputation, no back injury result of trauma involved in amputation, semi-retired daily routine involves no heavy lifting, twisting, etc.; PT, Surgeon (Xrays) & Prosthetist agree no leg length descrepency; one previous spinal surgery for degen’ disc disease in lumbar spine…workman’s comp’ refusing to cover anything other than pts prosthetic needs- stating sound side limb &/or back issues are not related to his wearing a prosthesis.
Thanks in advance,
