He also distributes for orthomerica and the local hospital gets their hip orthoses ( of course with the same size hp band regardless of patients weight) and cash orthoses. The CEO of guess what hospital chain, the one that got fined millions of dollars for up coding and had their ulcer clinic closed for up coding for surgical procedures when doing a debredment, its about a 100 buck in the office. anyway my point is he asked me 6 years ago if I could lower my prices ( they quadruple my fe to the insurance companies and patients) I said very nicely no and would you work for 40% under your present salary. He said he would just have his PTs do them, I said with no ability to adjust and so forth some one might get hurt. AS GOD IS MY WITNESS, HIS Response WITH OUT A BLINK WAS ” THATS WHAT WE HAVE INSURANCE FOR” So 3 weeks later i get call from the PTs at hospital saying the admin told them to ask me !
if I can come show them how to put braces on. Bear in mind I didnt want work from this hospital and when they used to call each facility in town for a price quote on each patient I would high ball them on purpose. I say this because I dont mince words and my dad taught me you can say anything to any one if you know how to say it they dont even get it , I wont use example he gave me at 15. I said to therapist ” I can train a monkey to put on a brace but its what do you do if there is a problem , also your basically asking me to put a knife to my own throat and slit it , that my 30 years in this field and my education and taking the risk of opening my own buisness so I didnt have to work for anyone would be thrown out the window? so ( very nicely of course ) I said no . This was basically a version of the example my dad gave which was you can tell someone to ————, add what ever you like but if you do it in the right way they dont even get it .So not to ramble on ortho!

y want. I got a call from a group i never get referrals from saying they have a patient but she falls between the small and large femoral fx braces they tried on her , AND SHE WAS MEDICARE, SO CAN i FIT HER , i ALMOST SAID NO OUT OF PRINCIPLE BUT TOOK IT ANYWAY. ONCE APON A TIME THE DRS ACTUALLY WANTED TO SUPPORT US . tHE DAM THAT USED TO PROTECT OUR SMALL COMMUNITY HAS SO MANY HOLES IN IT WERE UP TO OUR NECKS IN WATER, AND i HOPE IT Doesn’t FINALLY GIVE OUT CAUSE WE WILL ALL DROWN.
