CAM Walking boot Coding- another response

Randy McFarland

If there is a code that describes a walking boot, then that is the
code to use. There are prefab fracture braces, that don’t look anything
like a walking boot that the 2114 could be used. I know many
manufactures give the 2114 as the recommended L code, which encourages
the PT’s and Dr.’s to fit out of their offices,
as I have talked to a few recently. I know that region C SAMERC,
palmettoGBA publishes an Orthotics and Prosthetics PRODUCT
CLASSIFICATION LIST online. This is a list of OTS items that
manufacturers have requested codes for.
http://www2.palmettogba.com/classifications/orthotics%20and%20prosthetic
s.pdf. On this web site L2114 is not listed for any of the manufactures
walking boots.
