Continual problem of socket edge breakdown

Sam Hale

My name is Sam Hale. I am a masters student at Georgia Tech, and I am
trying to get some initial information for a research project. I ran into a
problem at work this summer of a patient who continues to rip his liner just
above the knee in his BK socket. This kept happening at the brim of the
socket where the socket itself was breaking down due to the high activity
level of his job (the brim was being pushed against the ground in kneeling
and against other objects for support). If you have experienced this
problem please let me know. If the problem is common I will be reposting to
find out what your best methods for creating a socket with a strong brim
are, or any other method you would use to protect the liner. Thanks for
your time.
