Re: Microprocessor Knee Assistance Requested

Zach Dwyer

Mr. Marquette, I had your e-mail to the list serve forwarded to me by a
certified practitioenr and am curious why to did not e-mail me directly
but instead created an advertisement regarding your products to the
industry.

I am very surprised by your e-mail Mr. Marquette for it was you
personally that told me during a phone conversation that you could not
produce the names of any practitioners that used your knee due to
confidentiality. I therefore feel it is appropriate to post my reply to
the list serve as the information you told me over the phone is
dramatically different than what is being portrayed publicly.

According the AOPA, which I contacted last week, it was confirmed that
DAW has in fact submitted information to AOPA coding committee and the
Academy and the information was not sufficient to support the claims of
being a microprocessor and therefore the AOPA coding committee still, as
of today, does not recommend coding the DAW knee as a microprocessor.

You are making a blanket claim that the Teh Lin knee is the “most
advanced knee on the market today”, yet you offer nothing more than an
e-mail to the list serve to verify your claim. Please provide some
science and documentation from a qualified individual to support
your claim.

I was directed to web site of Teh Lin, the manufacturer of the SLK knee
and you will clearly see that the people that design and make the knee do
not refer to it as a microprocessor, but rather they refer to it as an
=93Intelligent IC chip=94. http://www.tlco.com.tw/index_eng.htm

According to the information from Teh Lin, the IC stands for integrated
circuit and there is no mention about a microprocessor. My degree is in
computer sciences, and there is a technical difference between an
integrated circuit and a microprocessor and it begs the question, why
does Teh Lin call it an integrated circuit and you sell it as something
else in the United States. You will note that no where in the web site
from Teh Lin is there any mention or promotion of a microprocessor, this
only appears DAW advertising copy here in the United States.

The numerous replies I received today have caused concern as to the
quality of valid information being distributed regarding this knee and I
have appeared to stumble onto a rather sensitive topic. If there is any
documentation you have to validate your claim regarding the Teh Lin knee;
I urge you to make it public and provide clear scientific data so these
numerous questions can be addressed.

And for the record, I recieved 18 e-mails today regarding the Teh Lin
knee, and not one was from someone that has had success with the knee,
PLEASE, if this is the most advanced knee and so many people are using
it, PLEASE provide some information or insight as to who and where it is
being used successfully.
