Reducing the pistoning of locking liners

Ward, Robert – OKC

The Prosthetics Lab of the VAMC of Oklahoma City, OK is interested in
locating locking liners that piston less that the current OWW Alpha Max
locking liners. The veteran / patient has wore a waist belt suspension of
his transtibial prosthesis, but insists on trying locking liner suspension
and is not pleased with the pistoning of his residual limb. We have asked
OWW to design and mail our lab a custom Alpha Max Locking liner with an A/P
and M/L stabilizing strip in an attempt to reduce pistoning of the patient’s
residual limb during swing phase. Presently we are still awaiting its
delivery, but will post results of this modification on the reply posting.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Replies will be posted
confidential.
Sincerely

Robert H. Ward, Prosthetist-Orthotist
