DAW Calls Responses

John T. Brinkmann

List Members,

Here are some responses that I received to my question about DAW marketing calls. I wonder if some of the negative reaction comes from the feeling of being played or manipulated by these reps. They try to sound sincere, genuine, and friendly, asking about the weather, golf, etc. and then use common scamming techiniques.

I’ve tried giving them a 30 second limit (“if you can’t convince me to be interested in the first 30 seconds, you don’t deserve more time”) and most recently I’ve tried asking to be removed from their call list and have written confirmation of this sent to me. I doubt it will work. Below are some other ideas. In the future I think I’ll continue to use this public resource to raise the subject when it becomes a problem again. I consider these phone calls harassment, and an indication of a low ethical standard at DAW.

On a related note, I’m looking for another source for skin coverings. This is the only item I purchase from DAW, and I’m looking for another supplier. I like the thickness of the DAW covers (thicker than Bock, for instance). Any ideas?

Got a call last week from some dude at DAW. He was basically reading a step by step marketing manual to me. Of course when I politely asked

himto fax the specifics over he never complied. I don’t mind talking to reps if they have some useful information or if they at least have a

personality but to be called and read to is pathetic! OH well it takes all kinds I guess.

John,

I have had the same problem. I”ve asked them to stop calling, but they

continue to waste my time and my staffs.

I understanding marketing but this, is harrassment.

I told the caller that we would STOP all orders, prepare a printed announcement to our patients to be displayed in our reception room and

all treatments rooms, and send a message to the listserv if another call was recd – no if/ands/or buts – and no matter how good their products were.

Have not recd another call since. That was ~ 6 months ago
