I have a 4 year old female patient who has macrodactyly of the Right foot(excessive/abnormal growth). She has had several surgeries to “de-bulk” her foot. In the past we had a custom shoe made with multi layers of inserts that could be removed to accommodate girth and be removed as she grows. Mom would like her to have “regular” style 4 year old girl shoes, like clogs, tennis shoes, and winter boots. Soccer shoes if she decided to play. Does anyone have experience with a custom shoe company that can do these types of shoes, or does anyone know if Nike or similar shoe companies ever get into custom shoes? Has anyone ever tried modifying shoes for similar diagnosis with any success? It is mostly girth that is the issue.
