We allow payments by check and by credit card in person, via the mail and by telephone. While I suspect that this may not be cost effective (we don’t have the volume of an online retailer), I’m wondering if any O and P facilities offer the option of making secure payments online, via their website, like via credit card or PayPal?

Secure payments. That is something we all need to watch. Please
understand, I am very guarded. We are presently dealing with an embezzlement situation and I do not want what this person did to us to happen to anyone else if I can help it. One of her more profitable schemes involved credit cards. When we were paid by credit cards, she would reverse the charges right away to her own personal cards. Net batch for the day is of course zero so nothing shows up on bank statements. She intercepted credit card statements. Being a small
company and trusting… we got screwed. CC fees were small so I did
not catch until cc was changed. Online sounds great, as long as you have a good handle on things.
We’ve begun using a much more effective and profitable system. We now BARTER for chickens, loaves of bread, powdered milk, cookies, fresh fruits and vegetables, etc. This has proved to be a very good system for us. Please feel free to share this with others if you should chose to post the replies.
I looked into this service for one of my clients, and it was cost prohibitive unless there is going to be a lot of people making payments this way. We ended up creating a secure web page that would ask for the check or credit card information, save the data, and allow someone at the site to process all the on-line payments at once. It still requires some manual work, but it can all be done at once instead of having to stop what you are doing when the patient calls with a payment. Jay Snider
