Here is an update on my remote release query for the obese transtibial = patient with rheumatoid arthritis compromising his ability to remove his = prosthesis. He has an Ossur 600 series lock. The release button and its = housing have small holes for the use of the installation tool. I = threaded a Hosmer elbow lock release cable through the hole, through a = housing and up the lateral socket to a release handle for an Otto Bock = locking knee. I removed the tabs in the handle which allows the patient = to secure the handle in the unlocked position, freeing both hands for = removal of the prosthesis. I am now looking for a handle to replace the = Otto Bock part. I would like to use a handle that has a stop in the = unlocked position. The patient has to fiddle with the handle a bit too = much to place it in the unlocked position. Any ideas?
