As of April 1, 2004, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
(CMS) established new “K” codes for spinal orthotics. In anticipation
of this, AOPA published the complete list of “K” codes in the 2004 AOPA
Quick Coder. The Quick Coder also contains all HCPCS orthotic,
prosthetic and shoe codes for 2004, including CMS’s 33 new codes and 14
changed code descriptors.
