Because ACA Cares
The Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) is introducing a new phase of the
Because We Care program that will provide those facing amputation, or
parents of a child born with limb difference, information about the
resources and programs available to them through the ACA. The new
program is being launched in partnership with hospitals, nursing homes,
and other healthcare facilities.
This phase of the Because We Care program replaces the initial phase – a
certificate program facilitated by AAOP practitioners who provided their
new and existing patients with a complimentary four-month ACA
membership. ?Upon review of the certificate program,? says Leslie
Duncan, Manager Information Services, ?it was determined that new
amputees and others facing limb loss needed a more comprehensive
information packet.?
At no cost beyond shipping and handling ($20 per box of 10 packets), the
ACA will provide the new information in a ACA/Because We Care bag that
contains the latest edition of First Step: A Guide for Adapting to Limb
Loss, a copy of the bi-monthly inMotion magazine, an ACA Print & Video
Resources catalog, and other information about the ACA and its programs.
Healthcare facilities can disseminate these packets to patients in
addition to other educational materials they currently provide.
