Recently, area P&O providers were handed an unsolicited “contract” =
by a major medical center dictating, among other things,=20
a.. That all inpatient MC and state Medicaid services will be =
reimbursed at 20 below state Medicaid rates=20
b.. All privately insured inpatients must be billed directly to the =
patient’s carrier (if they even have one) as the hospital will not issue =
a PO for those services=20
c.. No reimbursement will be given for unlisted, uncovered or “BR” =
HCPCS codes=20
d.. No reimbursement for after-hours or weekend requests for service
These terms are not negotiable. Needless to say, this will have =
far-reaching effects on patient care and business viability and does not =
bode well for our regional P&O profession. This situation has probably =
arisen in other areas of the country as well and we would appreciate any =
experiences, reactions or outcomes to such “contracts” by list members. =
