I couldn’t agree more with your take on the below issue, and intend (and
expect) in the future to be able to request “loaner knees” to be provided
for patient trial fittings and use, even if it has to be in office. It is
not fair to our patients to make a choice on a multi-thousand dollar knee
(or other component) without having at least the opportunity to try
beforehand. I will look toward manufacturers who will provide this service
in my future practice, and encourage others to do the same. We hold the
cards on behalf of our patients when it comes to making purchasing
decisions, and the manufacturers will necessarily draft policy based on our
collective need. Thank you for bringing this issue to everyone’s attention.
