OPAF Program/Web Update

Jeff Reznick

Friends,

OPAF volunteers visited DC’s Hospital for Sick Children (HSC) yesterday,
continuing their involvement in our DC Community Initiative and the
cornerstone of that project, our partnership with the Morris Cafritz
Center for Community Service of the DC Jewish Community Center (DCJCC).
Everyone enjoyed a great afternoon of pizza and making colorful frames
for their personal Polaroid pictures.

Digital pictures of our visit are now available here…

…and more information about the program is always available through
our web site at:

Thanks very much to our volunteers Jean, Moe, Sheri, and Walter, and to
our community partners, HSC and DCJCC, for allowing us to connect with
their vital services to the DC metropolitan area. Thanks especially to
Melissa Pasteris, DCJCC’s Hospital Visit Program Coordinator, HSC’s
Robyn Winston, RT, and Tamara Bibby, OPAF Program Coordinator, for
arranging the logistics of our regular visits to the hospital. Without
their collective dedication to serving the children, OPAF’s work in this
important area would not be possible. Thank you all.

And, of course, thanks to everyone in the O&P community – and especially
to our founders AAOP, ABC, and AOPA – for their continued support of
OPAF and its programs.

I would also like to take this opportunity to announce a new addition to
the OPAF web site, one made possible through the generosity of Endolite
North America and the technical wizardry of our friends at OANDP.COM.

Now available at…

http://www.opfund.org/programs/fitness.html

…is a short video featuring “Fitness for Everyone,” the popular and
valuable clinic created and led by three-time Paralympic track and field
champions Dennis Oehler and Todd Schaffhauser. This program provides
above- and below-knee amputees of all ages with instruction in
stretching and strengthening, walking and running, and achieving their
own physical goals. Dennis and Todd have led hundreds of clinics around
the world and helped thousands of amputees to enjoy the rewards of
personal achievement, physical fitness, and social interaction. We are
grateful for their involvement in this program and in advancing our
mission and purpose here at OPAF.

The video is available in two different formats, one for modem
connections and another for faster connections.

Thanks again – everyone!

Sincerely,

Jeff
