Dycor Component Responses

Eric Schwelke, C.P.O.

In response to my inquiry:

“To all:

Any experiences with or knowledge about “Dycor” feet and/or components would

be appreciated. Of course, all responses will be reposted.

Thanks in advance.

Eric Schwelke, C.P.O.”,

To date, I received the following: Thanks for the input.

They have a very good selection of activity feet, and the people at the

company are very helpful. I have used them and have liked them. Finishing

the foot to the cosmetic cover is not as easy as some, because they do not

have a flat top. All of the feet are for geriatric, or lite duty as I

understand, but perhaps that has changed.

Hope thats helpful.

I have had good success with 5 or 6 Dycor feet on very low end ambulators.

Most were very lightweight geriatrics. The prostheses were the lightest in

weight I’ve ever made on people who actually walked.

I have used Dycor feet quite frequently over the past couple of years. They

are the lightest weight feet I’ve ever experienced. Absolutely wonderful

for those ‘lil old ladies and guys who are basic home ambulators and who

require extreme weight reduction. The S/A version especially works well in

providing the extra stability for the weak amputee while still maintaining

light weight feature. I have used the M/A version on lighter weight, K2

amputees, too. There is always a downside. They don’t hold up well to

activity. I would not use them again on anyone beyond a K1. Have had some

trouble with noise, but powder cured it easily.

All in all, I think they’re great for the K1 amputees. Hope I’ve helped.

We have used quite a few Dycor feet, both the single axis and multi axis

models, with good results. The great thing about them is there weight. When

compared to feet with similar function they are very light. We find them

particularly applicable to low activity level BKs and moderate/low to low

activity AKs. We find they are a bit more challenging to finish off for a

nice cosmetic appearance.
