A shrinker is an elstic tubular sock (prefabricated or custom made, including

textile plus rubber or latex threads) that provides, when applied on a

“stump”, constant radially directed force and thus assists in reducing edema.

The edema reduction in turn shrinks the volume of the residual limb (stump) –

thus the term shrinker. A shrinker belongs to the family of medical hosiery.
