Now Tony, in the other matter, DID you really cobble it up all by
yourself, the political program for which you so unremittingly beat your
drum….did you, REALLY all by yourself?? I doubt it. So it’s not
constructive of you to suggest that the Amputee Union should spring
fully implemented into life from the efforts of ONE person. I have had
lots of encouragement from both amputees and prosthetists but what we
need is organizer effort to go beyond the ample need and rationale
which I have suggested. You yourself could probably do this quite
effectively, probably right alongside your current effort. If you
worked in this way your crown of recognition would take on a luster you
can’t imagine now. I need help with this as I’m not an organizer of
this type except for being able to see the need for the union and many
of the compelling reasons for it…..I suspect that you also admit in
the privacy of your thoughts their obviousness. Give some thought to
it. One thing you should realize, in considering the need, is that the
union (as I see it), while not hostile, is also NOT collegial with any
segment of the effort of P&O, and like other unions, derives much
strength from this fact: the amputee community standing on it’s own
“two feet” as an equal participant in the rehab equation. GB.
