exo knees

John Fergason

Thanks for the replies. Many just stated that lightness is in the

fabrication process not just the knee. The question was to find the

lightest exo knee/hydraulic swing control combo.

You might want to check into the “Durathane Knees” at Hosmer. It is

lighter and stronger than wood exo systems. They will take almost any

control unit you want. I also suggest you talk to Jim Skardoutos their

central fab manager. He can give you some guidelines on how to hog out

the center to make it even lighter.

The lightest exo prosthetic knee unit I have used is the Otto Bock 3K5. It

is designed for geriatrics and as a swimming leg. It is important to

Otto Bock’s fabrication procedure. Call them if you have any questions.
