upper limb prosthetics

michael stimpson

Dear all,

My fellow colleagues and I have been tasked with researching the subject

of the treatment of primary upper limb amputees as part of our third

year, upper limb prosthetics, teaching block. We are particularly

interested their first visit to a prosthetic clinic, post operatively.

What can the traumatic patient expect? I trust that they are not simply

trundled in, cast and sent home two weeks later with a replacement limb.

What structure does the first visit take? Who provides the advice

guidance on the prognosis? Is there any pre-fitting training and

physiotherapy?

We would be interested to get an insight into the various approaches

from overseas as well as the UK and would be extremely grateful for any

information that any of you can offer.

Thank you for your time,

Michael Stimpson
