Gentlemen, I’m confused….
I made some comments regarding my perception that the three associations have
different objectives and missions. I also suggested that lawmakers are keenly
aware of the objectives off all those who come before them…
I got back a response from Mr. Brown, inferring that the Academy is subsidized
by AOPA.. This comment is then corroborated by Mr. Prithem, citing certain
agreements between the three organizations… I ask for specific data to
demonstrate the subsidy, and Mr. Lamb sends me a statement that shows expenses
in the National Office are shared… Now I have even more questions….
1: Because AOPA pays a greater portion of the overhead than both the ABC and
the Academy, does that mean that AOPA subsidizes ABC too??
2: do shared expenses mean subsidizing??
3: If there is a problem with the financial viability of any of these
organizations, why isn’t there a drive to cut operational costs. I don’t know
the fine details of the books, but, I am sure there are some conveniences that
could be eliminated without hindering the effectiveness of the organization.
I hope I don’t sound too frustrated in this post, BUT I pay about $ 200 per
month to be a member of these fine organizations… I would like to know
where my money goes, and I believe that I and my colleagues do have a right to
know…. If the financial solvency of any of these organizations is
questionable, I WANT TO BE KEPT ABREAST… as I am sure the majority of the
members do.
Thank you
