Our Political Immage

A response from my collegue:

ABC’s role was to offer information about the ABC mission and

certification, not to fight for licensure. I refer you to ABC’s policy

statement on the issue, which is available from Lance Hoxie. i believe

AAOP and AOPA have similar statements.

Immed Past Pres., ABC

I understand what the mission was, I also understand that the mission of the

three associations are not the same….

Don’t think that the lawmakers we deal with, aren’t fully aware of WHO people

represent and the mission, when ANYONE presents in front of them… These

guys smile and shake your hand, tell you they like you, and put out their

palm…. but when it comes right down to the business of politics, they are

looking out for their own necks. In most cases, they don’t really give a crap

about us…. When they make their moves, they need some justification in

why they voted a certain way on an issue… I’ts kinda like a prescription

that isn’t really needed unless you get audited… It does have a value in

the mind of the practitioner, because he wants to have his butt covered….

The politico’s work the same way, but, the audits come from the press, or

inquiring constituents, or their political enemy… they too need to justify

why and how they vote…. the system does work, but you have to play smart

if you want to win… consolidation is very simply shootin ourselves in

the political foot…
