Good Day Everyone
I’m looking for any suggestions using the hypobaric suction T.F. system.
I have a 55 y.o. female, 65.7kg. with approximately 10cm. of distal
redundant tissue. Muscle tone is very soft with large thighs. Large
amounts of soft tissue spills out over the proximal brim and pinches
especially in the groin area. She is active on a dairy farm and also
works a second job outside of the farm, she must be mobile. Her chief
complaint is the skin pinching in the groin area. Perspiration tends to
cause the tissue to stick to the poly-pro socket walls.
I’m considering fitting fitting her with the hypobaric socks to create
suction and for persipation absorbtion. In addition the sock would
protect the proximal soft tisue that spills over the edge of the socket.
Combine this with a flexible brim socket interface to allow deep hip
flexion for milking duties. I’m anticipating rotational problems due to
the flaccid tissue and plan to use a neoprene belt. I should also
mention that I am planning on fitting her with an Otto Bock Cad mild IC
socket. Due to her redundant and flaccid tissue I feel a traditional
plaster cast would only create an impression that looks like a sausage.
It has been suggested that I obtain the necessary measurments over a
Juzo shrinker to help firm the tissue both longitudinally and
circumfrentially. The question is how much socket reduction should be
used to obtain adequate suction with the hypobaric socks?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
