IVY and Steroids

ecat

Thankyou all for the replies to my post about the problem of Ivy’s skin and

prosthetic fit…they have given me a few clues. Herewith the replies:

1.I would think you should consider the Alpha or TEC liners that impart a

mineral oil to the skin.

2.Howdy– Check out this web site– www.drday.com

This woman is an orthopedic surgeon who cured herself of cancer with diet.

She has also gotten her 85 year old mother off of prednezone and like

medication via a similar diet–solved her chonic arthritis too. It doesn’t

appear to be an “MLM” or networking sales gimmick. Remember when you check

out the site that this woman is 60 years old! I am curently testing the

concept out myself and if it shows promise will be letting my own

amputee/diabetic/arthritic patients watch the video while they’re in the

waiting room.

In general, the diet includes 8 to 12 glasses of water per day, 8 glasses

of freshly juiced vegitable juice (carrot), 4 glasses of leafy green

vegitable juice. No meat, limited protein per day (80 gm/day), no dairy,

no poultry, no refined sugar, no caffeine, do not drink with meals,

minimize stress, plenty of sleep, etc. Drinking plenty of water is one of

the important keys in this.

Look what it did for her!–and her mother… I figure, what’s to loose?

If

it works, you’re healthy and arthrytis goes away. If it doesn’t work,

you’ve only saved a few cows… 8^)

Well, this may not be the kind of help you were looking for but what the

heck.If she does try it, let me know how it works…

3. What type of 3-S liner are you using? What brand? Also, have you tried

using TEC (Total Environmental Control) Liners? They are thicker and

provide more cushioning than any other liner I have seen.

4.Have you tried Hypobaric socks?….it sounds like a very possible fix for

her symptons. Ken

5.The ipos skin liner is probably the most skin-friendly prefabricated

silicone liner on the market. In your case it would go well with an

installation of the pneumatic volume control system for trans-tibial

sockets. This is a system with a built in mini-pump and allows the patient

to individually follow volume changes of the residuum with adjustments of

the socket volume. It is available in various sizes as a pre-fab product

and is really easy to install.

For more (printed) information you may want to let ipos have your mailing

address. Please respond to [email protected]. (not to this one because

I will be going on vacation and not receive your mail). Wieland Kaphingst

CPO (D) VP ipos NA Inc.

6.I don’t think you can do much about the affects of the steroids on the

skin. However for the ever changing volume you might investigate some of the

pneumatic bladders that have appeared on the market. I have not used any to

give an opinion, maybe somebody else can.
